Ideal dolls have been American play dolls for generations of little girls. Some famous of the Ideal dolls are Shirley Temple, Betsy Wetsy, Toni, Mary Hartline, Betsy McCall, Saucy Walker, Miss Revlon, patti Playpal, Tammy, and Crissy.
The Ideal Toy Corporation was started in 1907 by Morris Michtom and Aaron Cone. The first doll was produced was The Yellow Kid. The famous doll designer Bernard Lipfert designed many classic dolls for Ideal and other companies, including Shirley Temple, Betsy Wetsy, Betsy McCall and Toni.
Ideal was very good at marketing dolls among children. It developed magic Skin dolls in 1940, and Patti Playpal in 1960s. But after years of developing, Ideal closed it factories in 1986 because of cheap labor competition.
